Department of State Begins Offering Real Estate License Exams in Spanish
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 12, 2025
The Shapiro Administration continues to cut red tape to make government more responsive and accessible for all Pennsylvanians
Harrisburg, PA – Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt announced today that candidates seeking real estate sales and broker licenses in Pennsylvania are now able to take their license exams in Spanish.
“This progress reflects the Shapiro Administration’s continuing commitment to removing barriers to professional licensure,” Schmidt said. “By allowing more applicants to take these exams in their native language, we are maximizing accessibility and making Pennsylvania a more attractive place to work.”
Pearson Vue, which administers the four real estate sales and real estate broker exams in Pennsylvania, partnered with an experienced Philadelphia-based company to translate the exams and their accompanying study guides into the Spanish (modern) dialect.
The exams and study guides – which are a valuable resource for applicants, content instructors, and other stakeholders – became available in Spanish on Nov. 1.
For now, exams in Spanish will only be administered in person at test centers, and online exams will be available only in English.
Applicants who choose to test in Spanish will be able to change to the English version of any test question. However, applicants who choose to test in English will not be able to see the Spanish version of any question.
The fee for the two required sales exams is $49 each, or $49 for both if the applicant takes both tests on the same day. The fees are the same for the two required broker exams. The language an applicant chooses for the exams does not affect the fee.
