Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania State Police invites the public to celebrate diversity when Multicultural Community Day returns Wednesday, September 28. The event will be held at Department Headquarters, at 1800 Elmerton Avenue in Harrisburg, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Multicultural Community Day promotes awareness and acceptance of our differences through the arts, food and music," said Colonel Robert Evanchick, commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police. "This event highlights just some of the many cultural groups that bring value to Pennsylvania but reaffirms our commitment to building trust and improving relationships with all communities we serve."
The event will feature cultural dances and music performances from the Halo-Halo Youth Dancers, Bulgarian Cultural Center, McGinley School of Irish Dance, Olympic Flame Dance Group, and the PSP Ceremonial Unit bagpipers. Numerous community nonprofit groups and advocacy groups will also be attending with displays and information. Local vendors will also have goods for sale throughout the event.
Food trucks from 717 Tacos, Bricker's Famous French Fries, Crema Coffee, Amor de Madres Colombian Cuisine, Mad Dash Grilled Cheese, and Rollz on Wheels Filipino Cuisine will bring international flavor and flair.
PSP will display a helicopter from the Aviation Patrol Unit, a K-9, horses and riders from the Mounted Unit, and vehicles utilized by the Special Emergency Response Team and the Hazardous Device and Explosives Section.
Other agencies joining the celebration include the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Summit Search and Rescue, and Operation Lifesaver.
Admission and on-site parking are free. Vendors determine food prices.
