Harrisburg, PA - Renowned author and naturalist Scott Weidensaul will discuss his latest book Mountains of the Heart: A Natural History of the Appalachians at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 7 in the State Museum’s auditorium. This presentation is included with regular admission to the Museum.
Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation members (including State Museum Affiliates) and members of the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art are admitted free to the Museum.
Weidensaul has written more than two dozen books on natural history, including Living on the Wind: Across the Hemisphere with Migratory Birds, a Pulitzer Prize finalist; The Ghost with Trembling Wings, about the search for species that may or may not be extinct; and Of a Feather: A Brief History of American Birding. The First Frontier: The Forgotten History of Struggle, Savagery and Endurance in Early America, was published in 2012. His most recent book, and subject of his talk, Mountains of the Heart: A Natural History of the Appalachians, was published in February of this year.

Following Weidensaul’s presentation, Acting Director of The State Museum Beth Hager will lead a tour of the exhibit Working Together for Wildlife: Three Decades of Pennsylvania’s Nature in Art, for which she was exhibit Curator.

Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission is $7 for adults (ages 12-64), $6 for senior citizens (ages 65 and up), and $5 for children (ages 1-11).
