Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities Announces August Consumer Financial Protection Events to Help Pennsylvanians Save Money, Invest Wisely, Recognize Scams, and Avoid Identity Theft

Pennsylvanians encouraged to call 1-866-PACOMPLAINT, visit pa.gov/consumer, or email consumer@pa.gov to report financial, insurance, and consumer concerns.

Harrisburg, PA – Financial Education, Protection, and Outreach staff from the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities (DoBS) will be participating in numerous free presentations for groups of seniors, veterans, and the general public throughout the month of August helping them avoid scams, understand signs of fraud, and avoid identity theft. August outreach events, in partnership with the listed organizations, will be held in-person and are open to the public unless otherwise noted.

Abington Pre-National Night Out: A family friendly event with over 100 vendors. Refreshments, interactive activities, free health screenings, and contacts with many vendors who offer resources, and many other fun/family friendly activities will be onsite. DoBS will provide free, non-commercial, consumer protection and investor education materials and publications.

Vet Fest 2025: This is a family friendly event for veterans and their families loaded with activities for everyone! Tours of the facility, a break-out session on VHA services, and other benefits will be provided. Community partners and veteran-owned businesses will also be on-site.

Cybersecurity – Staying Safe Online: Whatever your age, understanding how to keep your information safe and secure online is vitally important for everyone.
