    Starting May 7, 2025, you'll need a REAL ID, a valid passport, or a military ID to fly within the U.S. or enter certain federal buildings. You can get a REAL ID now if you want one. This guide will help you decide if you need it.

    Do I need a REAL ID?

    Use the following guide to determine if a REAL ID might be necessary for you:

    You do not need a REAL ID.

    A valid passport, passport card, permanent resident card, or U.S. military ID can be presented to fly within the United States or enter a federal building. As long as you have one of these, you do not need a REAL ID.

    Remember to check your passport expiration date and renew if needed!

    Starting May 7, 2025, every air traveler will need to present a REAL ID-compliant license/photo ID or another acceptable form of identification for domestic air travel. REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses and photo ID cards are now available to customers who want them.

    You may want to consider getting a REAL ID.
