ROBINSON HONORED AS PENNSYLVANIA BOATING LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE YEAR

Robinson Honored as Pennsylvania Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

HARRISBURG, Pa. (November 8) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is pleased to recognize Waterways Conservation Officer (WCO) Kyle Robinson as the 2022 Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for Pennsylvania, as awarded by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA).

Robinson, who began his career with the PFBC in 2019, is assigned to Mifflin and north Huntingdon counties, a district that includes the Juniata River and summer patrols of Raystown Lake.  During 2022, Robinson logged 704 hours of recreational boating law enforcement.  While on patrol, Robinson initiated 787 vessel boardings resulting in 103 criminal summary citations and 505 warnings.  While participating in proactive Boating Under the Influence (BUI) enforcement, including during NASBLA's annual Operation Dry Water detail throughout Independence Day weekend, Robinson arrested eight watercraft operators for BUI.  Robinson also investigated four recreational boating accidents and four environmental cases.

In 2022, Robinson completed training for Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and attended NASBLA's GPS Boat Accident Investigation course in Lexington, Kentucky.  Robinson served as a NASBLA Inland Boat Operations Instructor and is currently training to be a Water Rescue Instructor.

Robinson and award recipients from other states were recognized at the NASBLA conference and awards ceremony in Denver, Colorado on September 21, 2023.
