Public Boat Access, Parking Lot Reopened at Children's Lake

BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. (March 15) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced today that the public boat access and parking area at Children’s Lake located in Boiling Springs (South Middleton Township), Cumberland County has reopened after a recent construction project.

The PFBC boat access and parking lot located at the intersection of Front Street and Race Street had been closed for several days this week so that construction crews could remove a large dead tree located next to the ramp and perform interim repairs to a stone retaining wall that had partially collapsed.

The tree removal process included fully removing the stump and filling the void area with stone and dirt. The wall repairs included removing damaged stones, filling and grading the area and applying finely crushed limestone to the surface.

The construction performed this week is interim, and further repairs to the access area will be completed as part of a major dam rehabilitation project at Children’s Lake that is expected to commence in the fall of 2020 and is currently in the design process.

Anglers should note that a scheduled PFBC pre-season trout stocking at the lake will occur on March 19. Regional Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day for 18 southeastern counties, including Cumberland County, will happen on Saturday, March 23. Regional Opening Day of trout season is Saturday, March 30. A complete trout stocking schedule searchable by county can be located on the PFBC website.
