HARRISBURG, Pa. (December 23) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) today announced an invitation for project applications to the State Wildlife Grants Program. The priority topic for the project will help support Pennsylvania's amphibian and reptile Species of Greatest Conservation Need found in the 2015-2025 Pennsylvania Wildlife Action Plan.
Fire management is an essential habitat management tool, yet gaps remain in understanding the effects of this activity on amphibians and reptiles. Information obtained through this project will help resource managers better understand any effects and, as needed, help develop best management practices for minimizing negative impacts to amphibians and reptiles while supporting the numerous beneficial habitat goals achieved through this management practice.
As noted in the application materials, project applications must be received by 4 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at PFBC Headquarters located at 1601 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17106. The PFBC anticipates final selection of projects by early-to-mid March 2020.

Federal dollars for this program are awarded to the PFBC by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) through the State Wildlife Grants Program. Awarding funds for selected projects will be contingent upon availability of funds, as well as satisfactory completion of USFWS, PFBC and Commonwealth applications, compliance documents and other requirements.
