HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 2) – A Cumberland County man has won a fishing kayak package as part of a contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) and Cabela’s of Hamburg, PA.
Jayme Dehart of New Cumberland, Cumberland County, in southcentral Pennsylvania, was awarded the kayak Friday afternoon at the Cabela’s superstore in Hamburg. The contest was held during the winter months and the public entered this giveaway by visiting www.GoneFishingPA.com, or by entering in person at the PFBC booth at one of the eight sport shows throughout the Commonwealth.
PFBC Executive Director John Arway, left, congratulates Jayme Dehart on winning the kayak package
“We particularly want to thank Cabela’s for donating this equipment,” said PFBC Executive Director John Arway. “This is a kayak package that will provide many memories for Jayme, and hopefully he will enjoy paddling in it and putting it to use pursuing some of the great angling opportunities for bass, walleye, panfish and other species in southcentral Pennsylvania.”
The kayak, an Emotions Kayaks Stealth 11 Angler, and fishing package items including a Fish Eagle classic rod/reel combination, advanced angler tackle bag and cool mesh life jacket, were donated by Cabela’s.
“I want to congratulate Jayme on winning the kayak package,” said Ron Leh, Cabela’s Store Manager and Retail Marketing Manager. “It was great to work with our partners at the Fish and Boat Commission this year. Their work and the programs they promote throughout the Commonwealth are second to none. We truly appreciate their support and we look forward to working with them for years to come.”
Kayak fishing is one of the fastest growing segments of fishing as reported by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation in its 2014 Special Report on Fishing. Factors contributing to this growth are the ease of operating, the relatively low initial investment, and small operating and maintenance costs.
“This is another opportunity for us to partner with industry and Cabela’s to promote fishing and boating opportunities to outdoor enthusiasts,” added Arway. “We look forward to other chances to elevate the fishing and boating message throughout the year.”Media Contact
