HARRISBURG, Pa. (April 14) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is alerting anglers and boaters who use the Howe Township access area in Perry County that the facility will be closed beginning May 2 while improvements are made to the site.
The access area is located north of Harrisburg off of US-322 and PA-34 and provides access to the Juniata River.
The project is expected to last approximately 9 weeks. The access area is tentatively scheduled to reopen to the public on Saturday, July 2.
The project includes the widening and resurfacing of the entrance roadway and parking area; construction of a new launch ramp for boats, canoes and kayaks; construction of an access ramp and a boarding dock which meet standards for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and improvements to storm water structures.
