HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 14) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced today that the Lake Wallenpaupack Access Area at Mangan Cove will be closed for maintenance beginning Monday, May 17 through Friday, May 28.
During this period the parking lot will be upgraded with new pavement and the public will be unable to enter the access area from Route 590. Anglers and boaters are advised to make alternative plans for accessing the lake during the closure.
"While we understand that temporarily closing this popular access area is an inconvenience, the current parking lot is in disrepair and requires immediate attention," said Paul Urbanik, Director of the PFBC Bureau of Engineering. "We thank the anglers and boaters for their patience and understanding during this project, and we think they will appreciate the improvements for years to come."
Located in Paupack Township, Wayne County, the PFBC's access area at Mangan Cove provides free public access to Lake Wallenpaupack and can accommodate parking for approximately 48 vehicles with trailers and 20 additional vehicles.
