GLADE RUN LAKE IN BUTLER COUNTY TO BE DRAWN DOWN TEMPORARILY FOR MAINTENANCE, FALL TROUT STOCKING CANCELED

HARRISBURG, Pa. (October 20) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced today that Glade Run Lake, Butler County, will be partially drawn down so that maintenance can be performed.

Over the next several weeks, depending on local rainfall, visitors to the lake will begin to notice water levels being slowly lowered by approximately four feet.  This partial drawdown is necessary so that a significant portion of shoreline can be exposed, allowing excessive aquatic vegetation to dry and freeze.  This common method for controlling nuisance vegetation through natural methods avoids the use of herbicides and mechanical treatments.

Because of this operation, a fall trout stocking that was scheduled at Glade Run Lake on November 5, 2025, has been canceled.  Anglers can review the 2025 Adult Trout Stocking Schedule to find alternative fall stocking locations statewide including Buffalo Creek Section 03 (10/17) and Harbar Acres Lake (10/21), both in Butler County.

Refilling of Glade Run Lake will begin during the winter to allow adequate time for lake levels to return to normal ahead of the spring 2026 trout season.

The PFBC thanks the public for their patience and understanding as this maintenance is completed.
