HARRISBURG, Pa. (Nov. 30) — The holiday shopping season is underway and fishing license gift vouchers make great presents and stocking stuffers for family members and friends. Vouchers and fishing licenses go on sale December 1 for the 2018 season.
“Purchasing a fishing license gift voucher is easy and convenient,” said Steve Kralik, Director of the Bureau of Outreach, Education and Marketing for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). “The individual buying the voucher only has to provide a method of payment. The recipient then redeems the voucher for a fishing license.”
Vouchers can be purchased for an annual license or for 3-year, 5-year and 10-year licenses.
“Multi-year licenses are great gifts for anglers who want to be ready to fish for years to come,” added Kralik. “They’ve been a popular choice because of the convenience, and customers save money by avoiding transaction and processing fees each year.”
A 3-year resident license can be purchased for $64.90, a 5-year for $106.90 and a 10-year for $211.90. Anglers can also buy multi-year trout/salmon, Lake Erie and combo permits and experience similar savings.

A resident annual fishing license costs $22.90; trout permit $9.90; Lake Erie permit $9.90; and a combination trout/Lake Erie permit $15.90. A fishing license is required for anyone age 16 and older.
Anglers also can purchase an optional 2018 fishing license button for just $5. The 2018 button features a Rainbow trout pattern. Buttons serve as a valid display requirement. Individuals must purchase an annual or multi-year resident, non-resident, senior resident, or senior lifetime fishing license in order to purchase a license button.
Children 15 and younger can also purchase a button if they first buy a voluntary youth license for $1.
“Fishing has always been an affordable and fun family activity that can be enjoyed for a lifetime,” added Kralik. “With a resident license and a trout stamp, an angler can enjoy more than a year of fishing for less than $33, about the cost of a typical dinner for two or a night at the movies.”
