Shoring up Shorelines... Freshens up Fishing!

In the past three years, The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and partners have been working hard to make the lake better for fishing enthusiasts, fish and other aquatic life with six projects that have shored up shoreline on F.J. Sayers Lake at Bald Eagle State Park.

Staff, partners and volunteers have constructed shoreline stabilization structures at Summer/Winter Launch, Lower Greens Run, Hunters Run Cut, Upper Greens Run, Shencks Picnic Grove, and a large section on the west bank near the lake’s dam breast where waves and wind have eroded shorelines over the years.

It was the work and funding contributions of nearly a half-a-million-dollars from partners making the project possible and ensures great access to shore fishing and habitat for fish for years to come.

The crappie and anglers are making good use of the results of the work, as the spawning crappie now have great habitat and fishing families have easier access to the shores for catching those happy fish.

Many thanks to Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy, Bass Pro Shops, Beyond the Pond, Bald Eagle State Park and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the amazing team effort.
