Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission orders Sales and Marketing Group, Inc. to pay $100,766 for race discrimination 

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) ordered Sales and Marketing Group, Inc., to pay more than $100,766 to former employee Jason Scott, an African American male, of Philadelphia, after the company terminated him because of his race and sex.

The order took effect January 23, 2016.
Scott filed a discrimination complaint alleging that Sales and Marketing Group, Inc. terminated him because his race and sex. The commission held a public hearing on appropriate damages after the Sales and Marketing Group, Inc. failed to answer Scott’s PHRC complaint.
“Firing someone from their job based on their race and sex is illegal discrimination,” said JoAnn Edwards PHRC Executive Director. “The PRHC is here to protect the civil rights for all Pennsylvanians when it happens.”
The commission ordered the company to cease discriminating against employees based on race and sex, and to pay Scott $56 for expenses and $100,766 for lost wages plus interest.
Sales and Marketing Group, Inc. has 30 days to report to the commission on how it will comply with the order.
