The PHRC to discuss LGBTQ+ discrimination and protections

Civil Rights Division will hold community forum in Philadelphia 

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) Civil Rights Division will host a community forum in Philadelphia on Thursday, June 27 to discuss LGBTQ+ protections provided under the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA).

Event: LGBTQ+ Discrimination and Violence, Let’s Talk About It

Date: Thursday, June 27, 2024

Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Location: William Way Community Center, 1315 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

“Following recent events and incidents targeting the LGBTQ+ community in Philadelphia, the PHRC hopes this community forum will give residents an opportunity to discuss discrimination and violence concerns they may have,” said PHRC Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW. “As part of our Beloved Community framework, the PHRC welcomes everyone to participate in this important discussion.”

Attendees are invited to join the PHRC Civil Rights Division for a safe space to talk about experiences as well as the discrimination protections under the PHRA. All allies are welcomed to join. The Civil Rights Division Outreach Coordinators will be available to gather narratives and instances of discrimination.
