Harrisburg, PA — The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is proud to announce the reactivation of the Berks County Advisory Council to the PHRC. This revitalized council will serve as a vital local voice in advancing civil rights, promoting equity, and addressing discrimination within Berks County communities.
The Berks County Advisory Council will meet virtually on the third Monday of each month, bringing together residents, advocates, and community leaders to collaborate on issues related to civil and human rights. The next meeting will take place on Monday, August 18, 2025.
“We are excited to relaunch the Berks County Advisory Council to the PHRC and welcome its members into our broader statewide network,” said Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW, Executive Director of the PHRC. “Our advisory councils are instrumental in connecting the PHRC’s mission to the communities we serve. By listening to local voices and elevating community priorities, we can more effectively fight discrimination and build a more equitable Pennsylvania.”
Tom Herman was voted by the Berks County Advisory Council to serve as Chair. A longtime advocate for community development and inclusion in Berks County, Herman brings both passion and experience to this renewed role.
“I’m honored to help lead the reactivated Berks County Advisory Council,” said Tom Herman, Chair of the Berks County Advisory Council. “This is an opportunity for our community to come together, share ideas, and take action to advance fairness, dignity, and opportunity for everyone in Berks County.”
The PHRC encourages all interested residents of Berks County to attend and participate in upcoming meetings. The Advisory Council is open to individuals committed to civil rights, social justice, and fostering inclusive communities.
