PHRC Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter to Receive NAACP Philadelphia Branch President’s Award

Award to be presented at the 2026 Freedom Fund Awards on February 12

Harrisburg, PA — The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is proud to announce that Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW, has been named the recipient of the NAACP Philadelphia Branch President’s Award. Lassiter will be formally honored during the NAACP’s 2026 Freedom Fund Awards celebration on February 12, 2026, at Rivers Casino Philadelphia.

The President’s Award is presented to individuals whose leadership advances civil rights, racial equity, and justice in Philadelphia and beyond. Lassiter, a national expert on implicit bias and race relations, has led the PHRC since 2018, strengthening statewide civil rights enforcement, expanding community-based programming, and spearheading bias prevention and conflict resolution initiatives across Pennsylvania.

“I am deeply honored to receive the NAACP Philadelphia Branch President’s Award,” said Lassiter. “This recognition reflects the collective work of PHRC staff, community partners, and leaders across the Commonwealth who are committed to advancing equity and protecting the civil and human rights of all Pennsylvanians. As we approach the nation’s 250th anniversary, our charge is clear: to remain steadfast, innovative, and courageous in the pursuit of justice.”

PHRC Chair Joel Bolstein praised Lassiter’s leadership and impact. “Executive Director Lassiter is one of the strongest civil rights leaders in the country,” said Bolstein. “His vision, energy, and unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of Pennsylvanians have elevated the PHRC and strengthened the Commonwealth. This award is a well-deserved recognition of his decades-long dedication to equity, justice, and public service.”

The 2026 Freedom Fund Awards event brings together community leaders, advocates, and partners to honor individuals who exemplify the NAACP’s mission and carry forward its legacy of civil rights leadership.
