PHRC Announces 2025 disABILITY Conference: Technology and Disability—The Intersection of Success

Event to be held in Harrisburg and online on July 31

Harrisburg, PA — The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is proud to announce the 2025 disABILITY Conference: Technology and Disability – The Intersection of Success, to be held Thursday, July 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hilton Harrisburg.

This free, one-day hybrid event will bring together advocates, policymakers, technologists, and community members for an impactful day of discussion centered on the challenges and opportunities technology presents for individuals with disabilities.

Participants can expect thought-provoking sessions covering:

  • Innovations in assistive technology
  • Best practices to prevent discrimination in emerging tech
  • Disability rights under Pennsylvania law
  • Digital accessibility efforts across the Commonwealth
  • Services and programs available throughout Pennsylvania

“Technology can be a powerful equalizer—but only when it’s designed with inclusion at the forefront,” said PHRC Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW. “This conference will elevate the voices of those directly impacted and shine a light on solutions that bridge the digital divide for individuals with disabilities across Pennsylvania. There is no equity without accessibility.”

In addition to workshops and presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to explore state and nonprofit programs, connect with new partners, and learn about services and resources available throughout the Commonwealth.

Darlene Hemerka Martin, PHRC Hearing Examiner and member of the event’s planning committee, emphasized the event’s community-centered focus, “The disABILITY Conference creates space to not only talk about the barriers people with disabilities face, but to actively work toward removing them. We’re excited to bring people together to share, learn, and help shape a more inclusive future for Pennsylvania.”

The conference is free to attend, but registration is required.
