PFBC Provides Update on West Falls Access, Wyoming County

HARRISBURG, Pa. (July 1) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced today that the West Falls Access, which provides fishing and boating access to the North Branch Susquehanna River in Exeter Township, Wyoming County, will remain open to all boating while the agency continues to monitor the site for unlawful activity.

This decision is in continued response to public concerns about the recently proposed temporary boating limitations at the access, which were scheduled to be implemented from June 10 through September 10, 2025.  After announcing that implementation of these restrictions would be delayed for several weeks while alternative action was considered, the PFBC determined that additional surveillance of the site is necessary.  While limitations at the West Falls Access are still possible and could include restricting motor vehicle access to the boat launch by a gated entry, these restrictions will be at the discretion of the PFBC’s Bureau of Law Enforcement, as needed on a temporary basis during the summer months, to address and prevent any unlawful activity observed at the site unrelated to fishing and boating.

Boaters are reminded that alternate motorized boat access to the North Branch Susquehanna River is available by using the PFBC’s Tunkhannock Access upstream, the PFBC’s Appletree Access downstream, or other local access points.

Anyone planning to use PFBC owned or controlled properties should review the regulations for using these properties in advance of their visit and obey all posted signs and warnings located on site.
