Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) filed criminal charges today in an elaborate home invasion armed robbery-for-hire plot involving a state prison inmate who sought financial gain from the crime.
Keegan G. Baker, 28, allegedly solicited a source to facilitate the home invasion. The “hitman” was expected to tie up and shoot a resident of the home and then hold the victim for a ransom of $68,000 in cash, along with firearms and jewelry that Baker believed was stored in a safe, according to the criminal complaint filed before Judge Daniel Miller of Magisterial District Court 37-4-03 in Marienville.
“Thanks to the quick actions of our investigators and strong collaboration with partner agencies, we successfully disrupted this sophisticated plan before it could be carried out,” said Captain James Reinard, Director of the Special Investigations Division of BCI. “This investigation underscores the importance of vigilance and timely reporting. Our team acted decisively to prevent this planned, heinous crime.”
Baker is charged with felony counts of solicitation to commit the following: kidnapping to facilitate the commission of a felony, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, burglary, and aggravated assault. He also faces misdemeanor counts of solicitation to commit simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
