Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission

The Commission, also known as MPOETC, was created in 1974 to establish certification and training standards for municipal police in Pennsylvania.

Attention Police Chiefs and Control Tactics Instructors

Effective immediately, only current Act 120 Police Academy Instructors and MPOETC approved department-level Act 120 officers may teach control tactics to municipal police officers to satisfy the annual requirements.

Completion of Control Tactics and Use of Force training, by a MPOETC-approved instructor, must be completed by December 31, 2025. If you need assistance finding an approved instructor, contact MPOETC at ra-mpotraining@pa.gov
