    Briefs, Reports and Resources

    The State Board of Higher Education is a trusted source of information and analysis about higher education. 

    Building on the launch of our historic Data Dashboards, we are now releasing several sets of higher education briefs that provide short, evidence-based, non-technical overviews of some of the most important issues and opportunities facing higher education in Pennsylvania today. These briefs include:

    1. Regional Postsecondary Workforce Credential Supply, Demand and Gaps. These briefs provide region-specific analyses of demographic trends, postsecondary ecosystems, and postsecondary workforce credential supply and demand by field.
    2. Summary Analyses of Pennsylvania Trends in Postsecondary Enrollment, Attainment, and Affordability. Based on our Data Dashboards, these briefs pull together a range of graphics and descriptive analyses on these three foundational topics.
    3. Topic-Specific Primers Aligned to Strategic Plan Priorities. These short briefs provide a foundation of evidence and best practices on multiple topics included in SBHE’s strategic plan.
    4. Summary of Summer 2026 Regional Postsecondary Workforce Convenings. This brief provides an overview of the stakeholder feedback we received from six regional, cross-sector meetings focused on determining how to better align the higher education sector with the Commonwealth’s critical postsecondary workforce credential needs.
