The SBHE encourages and will support colleges and universities to streamline and simplify the college admissions process. Admissions redesign typically includes one or more of the following elements: early guarantee of college admission; simplification of the application; proactive communication; and application fee waivers.
Making the admissions process easier and more transparent has proven results. States and institutions that do so see increased numbers of applicants, and increased enrollment levels. Many Pennsylvania colleges and universities have improved the admissions process, providing a strong basis for expanding and scaling these practices.
In the coming months, SBHE will compile materials designed to highlight evidence-based best practices, examples from the field, and resources to support the expansion of admissions redesign across the Commonwealth. For more information on admissions redesign, please consult this SBHE brief.
