Harrisburg, PA – At the request of officials in Erie, the Shapiro Administration will support a Multi-Agency Resource Center to assist individuals and families that sustained losses from damages caused by severe storms and heavy rain September 2 to 3, 2026. The resource center is open to residents and business owners in Erie County who were affected by the recent severe storms.
“Strong wind from the severe storms caused significant damage to many homes, businesses and public property across Erie,” said Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Padfield. “Having necessary resources and services available in one location for the community makes it a little easier for everyone to navigate the recovery process.”
The resource center will be open daily from September 17-19, from 10 a.m.to 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 1022 Liberty St, Erie, PA 16502.
Multiple county agencies and offices, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Pennsylvania Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, and other volunteer and community organizations will be available to provide local services. Pennsylvania state agencies scheduled to participate or provide information include:
• PA Department of Agriculture
• PA Department of Human Services
• PA Emergency Management Agency
• PA Insurance Department
• PA Office of the Attorney General
Some of the resources provided by organizations supporting the resource center include information on checking insurance coverage for damages, benefits and disabilities support, community support services, and other recovery information and resources available.
“From the beginning of this devastating storm, our focus has been on our Erie community and making sure our residents have the support and resources they need," said Mayor Daria S. Devlin. "We are so grateful to PEMA and our state partners as we continue this work. We know there is still a lot to do, but we will continue to show up for our residents, work together, and do everything we can to help our community recover.”
“The damage from these storms has affected families, businesses and communities across Erie County, and this resource center brings the people and services they need together under one roof,” said Erie County Executive Christina M. Vogel. “We will continue working with our state and local partners to make sure our residents have the support they need to recover and rebuild.”
Homeowners, renters, private non-profits, and businesses with damage from the severe weather on September 2 to 3 are encouraged to report those damages to their local emergency management agency or through the Erie County online portal as soon as possible to assist with determining whether additional recovery support is available.
