Harrisburg, PA – After signing the 2025–26 budget into law this week, Governor Josh Shapiro took to the airwaves across Pennsylvania to share how the state budget delivers real results for the people of Pennsylvania — building on two years of progress, tackling Pennsylvania’s most pressing challenges, and continuing to fuel the Commonwealth’s growth.

The Governor participated in interviews with news outlets in all seven Pennsylvania media markets, providing residents an opportunity to hear directly how the new budget makes historic investments in education, cuts taxes for working families and business, strengthens workforce development, and drives economic growth across the Commonwealth.

During the interviews, Governor Shapiro highlighted how the budget:

  • Invests in Education: Increases funding by more than $900 million for public schools, special education, and school infrastructure, while also improving Pre-K access and modernizing cyber charter reform.
  • Cuts Taxes for Working Families: Establishes the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, delivering $193 million in relief to families across the Commonwealth.
  • Strengthens the Workforce: Supports child care recruitment and retention, raises wages for direct care workers, and invests in workforce development programs.
  • Invests in Public Safety: Increases support for successful community-based violence intervention initiatives by 10 percent and funding another four classes of State Police cadets.
  • Supports Seniors and Vulnerable Populations: Increases funding for Area Agencies on Aging, food assistance programs, and other critical services.
