Use of Generative AI in the Hiring Process
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania provides guidance on the appropriate use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools by individuals seeking employment. This guidance is intended to support a fair and transparent hiring process while allowing applicants to use AI tools for preparation.
Applicants may use generative AI tools to assist with activities such as researching the agency or practicing interview questions. However, all application materials, resumes, and interview responses must reflect the applicant’s own qualifications, experience, and work.
Generative AI may not be used to misrepresent information, generate application content presented as the applicant’s own, or assist in responding to live interview questions. Recording or transcribing interviews without the consent of all participants is also prohibited.
This guidance does not apply to approved accessibility or accommodation tools, such as screen readers.
