Permitted Uses by Job Seekers
Job seekers may use generative AI tools for preparation purposes only. The Permitted Uses Section below provides examples of permitted uses. These examples are illustrative and not exhaustive. Job seekers must limit generative AI use to preparation and editing support so that the job seeker’s employment application, resume, and interview accurately reflects the job seeker’s own qualifications, experience, and work. Permitted uses can include:
- Research: Use AI to facilitate researching the employer ahead of the interview.
- Interview Practice: Use AI to help practice answering interview questions.
Prohibited Uses by Job Seekers
Generative AI tools may not be used to misrepresent qualifications or replace a job seeker’s own responses during the hiring process. The list below provides examples of uses that are not permitted during the preparation of a job seeker’s application materials or during an interview. A job seeker may be removed from consideration and face additional administrative or criminal actions if found to have been using a generative AI tool in a prohibited manner during the hiring process.
- Falsification/Misrepresentation: Using generative AI to falsify or misrepresent any information provided by the job seeker as part of their employment application and hiring process.
- AI-Assisted Interviewing/Transcription: Using generative AI to help answer live interview questions, or recording or transcribing an interview without the affirmative consent of all parties in the interview. Note: recording or transcribing an interview or other conversation, without the affirmative consent of all parties to the interview/conversation, may be a violation of the law.
