Individuals may complete the Pennsylvania Basic Hunter-Trapper Education course either by attending an in-person course or by completing an online course. Pennsylvania will accept hunter education certification obtained from other states, and other states will accept Pennsylvania's Hunter-Trapper Education certification as it pertains to firearm hunting. 

The Pennsylvania Game Commission Learn to Hunt program is designed to provide new hunters with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful. Through these programs, participants learn about game behavior, habitat preferences, hunting equipment, preparing wild game meat consumption, and much more. To meet people’s preferred learning styles, the Game Commission offers both in-person and virtual Learn to Hunt Program options. 

The Mentored Hunting Program has expanded incrementally in recent years to offer opportunities to unlicensed hunters of all ages.

With over 1.5 million acres of state game lands provided by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania has plenty of public and private land to go hunting. 

​Pennsylvania public shooting ranges are funded through Pennsylvania hunters and shooters dollars. The excise tax placed on firearms, ammunition and archery equipment funds range projects like this all across the state. Please keep this in mind while at the ranges. Purchase your license online: Licenses purchased online may take up to 10 business days to arrive. However, during high sales periods licenses may take up to 20 business days to arrive. Hunters ordering through HuntFishPA will receive an email to the email address on their profile when your license order is shipped.
