Harrisburg, PA – State Inspector General Bruce Beemer said today he is grateful for and honored by the confidence Gov. Tom Wolf has shown in him by nominating him for the position of Pennsylvania Attorney General, and he appreciates the opportunity to meet with and earn the support of the state Senate during the confirmation process.
Beemer, who was First Deputy in the Office of Attorney General until becoming Inspector General on July 25, said he looks forward to the challenge of leading the OAG through this transitional period.
“I hope to help the hard-working and professional staff in the OAG continue their tireless efforts to combat drug trafficking, protect children from predators, advocate for consumers and perform many other vital functions for the commonwealth. I will do my best to organize and prepare the agency for the new attorney general,” Beemer said.
Beemer, a former assistant and deputy district attorney in the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, was appointed chief of staff for the OAG under Attorney General Linda Kelly in 2011. Attorney General Kathleen Kane appointed him Chief of Criminal Prosecutions in 2013 and then First Deputy in 2014.
