Scholarship Program

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Scholarship Program, administered by the PASSHE Foundation, offers scholarships to support the educational aspirations of commonwealth employees and their dependents to attend any PASSHE university.

Scholarships up to $2,000 per academic year are available for full-time students and up to $1,000 for part-time or non-credit bearing classes.*

Tuition Discounts

You may be eligible for tuition discounts at participating colleges and universities. Some schools also extend discounts to your dependents.

College Savings Programs

PA 529 Programs

  • Guaranteed Savings Program (GSP): Save for education expenses at today’s rates.
  • Investment Plan (IP): Build a custom investment portfolio to grow savings for future education expenses.

Keystone Scholars

  • Provides a $100 scholarship for children born to Pennsylvania residents in 2019 or later.
  • Funds can be used for post–high school education or training expenses.

PHEAA Loan Discount

Commonwealth employees who are borrowers or co-signers on a new PA Forward student loan may receive a 0.25% interest rate reduction.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

As a qualifying employer, working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania counts toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Employees can apply after making 120 qualifying payments under an approved repayment plan. The federal government makes the final decision. If approved, the remaining balance on Federal Direct Student Loans will be forgiven.
