Governor Shapiro Orders US, Commonwealth Flags to Half-Staff in Observance of Memorial Day 2025

Today, in accordance with the United States flag code, Governor Josh Shapiro ordered United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff on Monday, May 26, 2025 in observance of Memorial Day to honor our nation’s fallen heroes.

“On this Memorial Day, we take the time to remember and honor all the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms and our nation,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “Lori and I are eternally grateful to those in uniform – and to the families and loved ones they’ve left behind – for their selfless service. On behalf of a grateful Commonwealth, may their memories be a blessing.”

The flags shall fly at half-staff beginning at sunrise on Monday, May 26, 2025, and return to full-staff at 12:00 pm.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute.

Pennsylvanians can receive flag notifications through the AlertPA, or Code Red, system by creating an account on the Alert PA site and selecting the Flag Notifications alert.
