Attending a large event? A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping your group safe, together, and happy.

Overview

Pennsylvania state agencies and local partners track and prepare for major events well in advance, developing comprehensive security plans and working to ensure that everyone stays safe. That being said, everyone should take some preparedness into their own hands for the utmost protection.

Plan Ahead

  • Know the event location, entry points, and emergency exits 👀

  • ID meeting spots in case your group gets separated 📍

  • Check weather conditions and have at least two ways to get alerts 🤳

  • Download tickets/maps in advance to avoid issues with slow internet 🎟️

  • In the event of an emergency, plan to text instead of call your emergency contacts [texting works better than calling when networks are overwhelmed]  📲

Travel Safely

  • Allow yourself extra time for traffic, parking, and security screening 🕰️

  • Use public transport when available 🚌

  • Don't block emergency access routes 🚫

  • Keep  nonperishable food and water in your car🥫

  • Show kids what staff and helpers look like 🙎

  • Point out help areas 👉

  • Agree on a meeting spot in case you get separated 🪧

  • Give kids a wristband, card, or phone lock screen with your contact info in case they get lost 🆘

  • Snap a picture of your child that day; this way you have an up-to-date image of what they're wearing 📷
