The double-height Grand Entry features an elegant staircase, Georgian-inspired woodwork, and a large Palladian window.

Adrian Pearsall chair

The mid-century modern lounge chair is an Adrian Pearsall design. Pearsall's Wilkes-Barre based furniture factory was known for their modern yet affordable pieces in the 1950s and 1960s.

Andy Warhol prints and Paul Evans table

The framed flower prints are the work of renowned Pennsylvania artist Andy Warhol. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Warhol was a leader in the Pop Art movement in the 1950s and 1960s, challenging traditional art and inspiring generations of future artists.

The table is by Bucks County native Paul Evans, a noted designer during the American Craft movement of the 1970s.

Samuel Hill tall case clock

The furniture includes a tall case clock made by Samuel Hill of Harrisburg in 1786.

The Charter Room features reproductions of the 1681 Charter of Pennsylvania. With this document, King Charles II granted land for the new colony of Pennsylvania to William Penn.

The wallpaper in this room is an homage to the creativity of artist Andy Warhol. The paper features Warhol's Rorschach paintings from 1984, a series inspired by the artist's experimentation with the inkblots used in early personality tests

The Grand Hall

Portraits of early American leaders, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, hang opposite of each other on the north and south walls. The ideas and actions of these two men helped shape the Commonwealth and the nation. Both played a significant role in the American Revolution and in the creation and ratification of the U.S. Constitution.

Portrait of Benjamin Franklin

The portrait of the bespectacled Franklin (c. 1800–1850) is an embellished copy of a French portrait. A scientist, diplomat, and longtime resident of Philadelphia, Franklin is depicted in his signature plain clothing with the tools of his trade: an inkwell, quill pens, paper, and a compass.

Portrait of George Washington

Washington, a Virginian, spent significant time in Pennsylvania as a diplomat and soldier. As president of the United States, he lived in the capital city of Philadelphia from 1790 to 1797. This portrait, painted by noted Philadelphia artist Rembrandt Peale in 1796, was modeled on the famous portrait by Gilbert Stuart.

Hand-painted wallpaper

The wallpaper in this room is a hand-painted copy of the original wallpaper from the historic Port Royal House in Philadelphia. Port Royal was built in 1762 by Edward Stiles, a merchant and shipowner from Bermuda. Many Philadelphia homes, including Port Royal, were looted for supplies when the British captured the city in 1777.
