Pennsylvania State Fire Academy to Conduct ‘Flammable Fuels’ Training This Weekend in Lewistown

Periods of smoke are expected to be visible in surrounding areas

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania State Fire Academy (SFA) will conduct a scheduled “flammable fuels” training course this weekend at its training grounds in Lewistown, Mifflin County, to help firefighters prepare for real emergencies.

Residents and motorists in the area may see periods of smoke near the SFA grounds during the exercises. The SFA team will monitor smoke conditions throughout the exercises to help ensure there is no impact on local air quality or community safety. All exercises will be supervised by certified instructors and strict safety protocols will be in place throughout the weekend.

Local fire departments, 911 centers, and other authorities have been notified.

Training is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18.
