The Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) seeks an attorney to provide legal advice and representation to the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (“DMVA”).  The position is based at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pennsylvania.  OGC seeks a licensed transactions-oriented attorney with qualifying law experience in the areas of contracts and regulation.  This position is eligible for part-time telework with an in-office requirement of three business days per week at the discretion of the General Counsel.

 

What You’ll Do:

The successful applicant will negotiate, review and draft contracts. The successful applicant may also draft regulations, review and amend existing regulations, and shepherd regulatory packets through the Commonwealth’s regulatory review process.  The selected candidate may be required to represent the DMVA in routine administrative proceedings before hearing examiners, the Board of Claims, and the Commonwealth Court.  The individual will be required to work independently, but with supervision of the Chief Counsel.

 

What We’re Looking For:

The candidate must have been licensed to practice law for a minimum of five (5) years and must have a minimum of three (3) years substantive experience handling contracts, procurement, and/or related transactional matters for a public or private entity or government agency, either in an in-house capacity or as outside counsel. This position requires a proven ability to analyze issues and convey legal advice, professional and effective written and oral communications skills, attention to detail, solid interpersonal skills, and an ability to foster trust and respect, including creating collaborative and responsive working relationships with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school. 
  •  Active membership in good standing with the Pennsylvania Bar.  
  • Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania for a minimum of five (5) years
