The Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) seeks a licensed attorney to work as an Assistant Counsel in the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). The position will be classified as either an Attorney 1 or 2 depending on the level of relevant experience possessed by the successful applicant. At the discretion of the General Counsel, this position is eligible for part-time telework with an in-office requirement of three business days per week at Harrisburg headquarters.
The PSP Office of Chief Counsel provides advice to the PSP on a variety of legal issues including, employment, labor, and transactional matters, along with several PSP program areas with duties requiring specific and unique legal needs to include: the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, the PSP’s Firearms Division, the PSP’s Megan’s Law Section, the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC), the Motor Carrier Safety and Assistance Program (MCSAP), the Bureau of Forensic Services (BFS), the Bureau of Patrol, the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center (PaCIC), and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). Additionally, the PSP Office of Chief Counsel represents the PSP and its members before administrative tribunals and state/federal courts on these and other administrative/civil matters.
What You'll Do:
The attorney hired for this position will provide professional transactions-oriented legal services to PSP. Experience drafting, reviewing, and revising, transactional documents and familiarity with the Commonwealth procurement process is preferred, but not required. The attorney will also advise PSP personnel on these matters and, when necessary, represent and negotiate on PSP’s behalf to outside parties.

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Pennsylvania Bar.
