Submit a Letter of Repossession for a Vehicle

If your vehicle is repossessed or the dealership takes it back, you will get a letter of repossession. You need to send a copy of the letter or your registration plates and cards to PennDOT.

Overview

When your vehicle is repossessed, it means the lender or dealer takes it back because you didn't make payments on time. When this happens, you have two options:

  1. Send a copy of your letter of repossession  by email at FRinsurance@pa.gov or fax it to 717-772-1550; or
  2. Send your vehicle registration plate and card within 30 days of your insurance being canceled to:
