Camp Hill, PA – Michael Gourley, superintendent of the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, reported today that inmate Kevin Beattie, 57, was found unresponsive in his cell on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until Lower Allen EMS arrived and advanced life support measures were continued. Beattie was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m.

Beattie was serving a 22-to 55-year sentence for burglary 18 Pa. C.S. § 3502 - on a Philadelphia County conviction. He had been at SCI Camp Hill since February 3, 2023.

In accordance with state policy, Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office.

The deceased’s next-of-kin has been notified.
