Jermyn, Pennsylvania

Jermyn Borough, a small town of less than one square mile in Northeast Lackawanna County, has had its share of "firsts," including the home of the first ever class on First Aid, taught by Dr. Matthew Shields in 1899. First Aid has since gone on to become a worldwide life-saving venture for millions and its birthplace of Jermyn, Pennsylvania.  Jermyn is now proud to be the first in a different, though related realm – the first municipality in Lackawanna County to become a WalkWorks Community. The people who reside in Jermyn are proud of their First Aid heritage and continue to uphold values of health and wellness. That is why we are proud to introduce WalkWorks to Jermyn – a brisk 1.2 mile route that promotes exercise and provides fun facts about our historic little borough.
