The number of children that fell into the less than 10 range for blood lead level results.
CDC updates the reference value every four years. Experts now use a referencelevel of 5 micrograms per deciliter to identify children with blood lead levelsthat are much higher than normal. The new lower value means that more childrenwill likely be identified as having lead exposure. This will allow parents, doctors, public health officials, and communities to take action earlier toreduce the child’s future exposure to lead. The Environmental Health TrackingProgram website will be updated next year.
