The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plans display regarding State Route 0230 Section 042 (Cameron Street Bridge Replacement project) at the Asylum Run Creek crossing. This project is located in the City of Harrisburg just south of Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County between Maclay Street/Arsenal Road and Muench Street on Cameron Street.

The proposed project will replace a poor condition bridge over Asylum Run in a two lane, two-way section of Cameron Street. This will include replacing the bridge with a new box culvert and tying into a private bridge structure to the east. The final roadway geometry will be the same as the existing. The proposed structure will be extended on the western side of Cameron Street to move the proposed bridge barrier outside the 14’ clear zone.

The box culvert will be constructed in staged traffic control to maintain a minimum one lane of vehicular travel and pedestrian access in each direction. Protective barriers will be installed to guide pedestrians during stages 2 and 4 when the sidewalk will be replaced. The existing mountable median barrier will need removed to accommodate the staged construction. Signing, pavement markings, and minor drainage may be updated.

Additional Project Information

The project is currently in design, and construction work is expected to take place in the 2028 and 2029 construction seasons. The duration of construction is anticipated to up to 24 months.
