Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission Accepting Applications for Federal Historic Preservation Certified Local Government Grants

Harrisburg – The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) is now accepting applications for federal Historic Preservation Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants.

Approximately $115,000 will be awarded through a competitive selection process contingent on availability of federal funds.

The CLG program is a decentralized partnership among the National Park Service (NPS), states, and local governments. PHMC administers the grant program on behalf of the NPS.

Grants are available to support projects in the following categories: planning; design guidelines or design assistance; National Register nominations; cultural resource surveys; public education; training; revitalization and reuse studies and program administration. This reimbursement grant program requires a 50/50 match.

The deadline for CLG grant applications is Feb. 14, 2014. Projects undertaken between Aug. 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015, are eligible.

There are currently 44 Certified Local Governments in Pennsylvania.

Municipalities do not have to achieve CLG status by the time the grant application is due, but if awarded a grant, they must have achieved CLG status by the contract start date in order to receive funding.

Grant applicants will need to submit a completed application.  For current program guidelines, eligibility information and application instructions, visit PHMC online at www.phmc.state.pa.us and click on “Grants and Funding”.

PHMC is the official history agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
