LIHEAP Crisis Grants Available Beginning Jan. 2 at New Location in Allegheny County

Harrisburg – Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, crisis grants will be available beginning Jan. 2 to provide emergency home heating support to those struggling to heat their home this winter.

Allegheny County residents can apply for LIHEAP crisis grants at the new crisis grant office location at 914 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, or call toll-free at 1-800-622-3527.

The LIHEAP crisis grants are in place to address heating emergencies such as broken heating equipment, a lack of fuel, a danger of being without fuel, or for individuals who have had their utility service terminated.

The amount of the crisis grant cannot exceed the amount necessary to resolve the crisis situation. The minimum amount is $25 and the maximum is $500. Customers can receive more than one crisis grant per season, but it must be applied to different vendors.

For more information on the LIHEAP program, or to download an application, visit the Department of Public Welfare's website at www.dpw.state.pa.us and click on "For Adults."
