Governor Corbett Issues Statement on US Department of Veterans Affairs Audit of VA Facility Wait Times

Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett issued the following statement regarding todays audit from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs:

“I am deeply concerned about the reported long wait times that many of our military veterans are facing at federal VA facilities across the nation, and am troubled that six audited federal VA facilities in Pennsylvania have been identified as needing ‘further review.’”

“Last week, I and five other governors from across the nation sent a letter to President Obama offering our help in addressing the healthcare crisis facing our veterans by allowing states to conduct reviews of VHA facilities and recommend solutions by those outside of the current failed system.”

“I am again urging the president to answer our letter and grant our request. Every day we delay, our veterans face greater barriers to the quality healthcare they deserve.”
