Corbett Appoints New Members to PA Commission for Women
Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett recently
appointed Ann Felter and Barbara C. Chaffee to the Pennsylvania Commission for
Ann Felter of Pittsburgh has served as the Executive Director of Early
Music America since October of 2012. Previously, Felter was the Major Gifts
Officer at the Magee-Womens Research Institute. Established in 1992, the Magee-Womens
Research Institute is the nation’s first research center devoted exclusively to
the health concerns of women and infants.
“Ann’s experience as a leader in women’s issues makes her a natural
choice for the commonwealth’s Commission for Women,” Governor Corbett said. “I
look forward to the new ideas she will bring to this position.”
Barbara C. Chaffee, Erie, is currently the President and CEO of Erie
Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership. Chaffee has extensive experience in tourism
and economic development having acted as the Executive Director of Tourism and
Film within the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Chaffee also served as a Special Assistant to the President and Public Liaison
in the George W. Bush administration.

member of the Commission for Women,” Corbett said. “Barbara’s extensive public
service record is impressive and I thank her for her dedication to the citizens
The mission of the
Pennsylvania Commission for Women is to identify and advance the diverse needs
and interests of Pennsylvania’s women and girls; to inform, educate and
advocate for its constituents; and to provide opportunities to empower women
and girls to reach their highest potential. The commission currently is
comprised of twenty-eight diverse women from across the commonwealth who are
united in ensuring the success of women and girls.
