Governor Corbett Orders Flags Lowered for Fallen Elk County Firefighter

Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett today ordered all Pennsylvania state flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Elk County to fly at half-staff on Wednesday, Nov. 6, to honor Firefighter Blaine E. Wildnauer Jr.

Wildnauer, a member of the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department, suffered an apparent heart attack Saturday in the line of duty while assisting with loading a patient into an ambulance at the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

A member of the fire department for 40 years, Wildnauer, 58, of Kersey, Elk County, is survived by his parents and three adult children.

Pennsylvania flags shall be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the date of Wildnauer’s funeral. The United States flag shall remain at full-staff on this date.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
